Kyoto Digital is a wall hook that translates an ancient forging technique into digital sculpture.
The project was born from a visit to artisan workshops in Kyoto, where Tan-kin metalwork transforms flat surfaces into textured volumes through precise hammering. Years later, this memory resurfaced in a different medium.
Instead of shaping metal through impact, the surface of Kyoto Digital was digitally sculpted by subtracting individual spheres from a solid volume — one by one — emulating the gesture of a hammer strike in virtual space.
The result is an architectural accessory that exists between craft memory and digital production.
3D printed in PLA in Barcelona, the object is conceived as a monoblock piece integrating both structure and mounting system into a single body.
Kyoto Digital is not an imitation of craft — but a reinterpretation of gesture in the digital age.
